Vinous
Reviewed February 2026The 2023 Haut-Bergeron has quite a complex bouquet that needs coaxing from the glass, revealing pure botrytised fruit, honeysuckle and beeswax scents and a touch of jasmine. The palate is well balanced, with a viscous entry, a silver thread of acidity, bright and focused with a lovely, caressing, honeyed finish. Delivers what you want from a Sauternes. (NM)

The Wine Independent
A blend of 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc, the 2023 Haut-Bergeron has 145g/l of residual sugar and is pale lemon-straw in color. It is a touch subdued to begin, offering subtle notes of lemon tart, apple butter, and ripe pears, followed by hints of allspice and acacia honey. The palate is intense, with citrus and apple-inspired flavors and impressive tension, with a honeyed finish. (LPB)

Decanter
Fine botrytis-derived cinnamon and clove, with palate richness and balancing acidity. While well above the average among all Sauternes tasted, a bit of mid palate (sweet) flabbiness lacks the intensity and vivacity of top Sauternes and Barsacs in this vintage. Tasted twice with same results. With 145 grams of residual sugar per litre, 4.5 grams of acidity a 3.4pH. (PK)

James Suckling
This has a pretty core of fruit with a medium body. Honey and apricot notes with medium sweetness at the end. It doesn’t appear to have a lot of botrytis, but it’s pleasant.
