2022 Meyre, Haut-Médoc

Another not-to-be-missed value gem from the 2022 vintage, Château Meyre is all class and a remarkable wine for the price. Just outside Margaux, this under-the-radar estate was an early adopter of organic farming in Bordeaux, works with legendary Médoc consultant Eric Boissenot, and brings a level of care and pedigree that you simply don't expect at this price. For me, the refinement of the 2022 Meyre is undeniable. There's terrific depth here, with dark cherry, cassis, plum, and a touch of graphite, but it's the texture that really sets it apart. The palate is polished and seamless, with fine tannins, fresh lift, and a long, composed finish. It has all the richness and generosity of the vintage without ever feeling heavy. This is the kind of 2022 Bordeaux that I keep coming back to. There are plenty of extraordinary wines at the top of the vintage, but bottles like Meyre show just how deep the quality runs. It drinks with the polish and pedigree of a much more expensive wine and is an easy one to recommend by the case.
