This wine comes entirely from a single plot that sits right at the foot of the famous Côte du Py within Morgon. The vines are, as you might expect from the name, 88 years old, and lend the wine fabulous concentration of fruit! Today, it's drinking wonderfully, hinting at what makes folks think of Morgon as Beaujolais' most serious Cru with a deep core of medium dark fruit, excellent structure around the edges, and plenty of freshness through the middle. Delicious!
Notes
Morgon is one of Beaujolais’ ten crus, appellations named for villages in the region’s northern vineyard area. Domaine Jean-Michel Dupré’s 2023 “Vignes de 1935” is a Gamay bottling whose name highlights the vine age at the heart of its identity.
