James Suckling
Reviewed June 2026A profound nose with lovely minerality. Full-bodied on the palate. A combination of power and elegance. It keeps going, with tempting salinity in the mouthwatering finish. Aged 50% in oak barrels and 50% in concrete eggs. Drink from 2028.

Half made in cement egg, half 500-litre wood, unracked, sample assembled. Picked a little later, the last of the 1ers crus, on 26th September. The same mid yellow colour, softer and more lactic. Offers the full generosity of the Montée de Tonnerre, with a buttery touch at the finish which may come from the wood. Still, it harmonises well with the fruit, so no problem. Drink from 2028-2032. Tasted Jun 2025.
Notes
Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "10 days bottled – 50% 500-litre barrels the rest in concrete eggs. Vibrant and with mineral clarity – the first with some more overt barrel elements. Really wide, juicy – ultra-impressive flavours. Wow texture and shape. That will be a great wine. Like the nose, modestly flavoured by the elevage – but just keep it 5 years and enjoy – a great wine."(03/2026)
