2023 Istine Chianti Classico

Angela Fronti’s Istine grew out of her family’s work in Chianti agriculture. The Frontis purchased their first vineyard land in 1982 and began bottling their own Chianti Classico with the 2009 harvest. Before that, most of their wine was sold in bulk to other cellars. The estate’s vineyards occupy separate sites around Radda and Gaiole, sharing high elevations and predominantly rocky soils that include galestro and alberese. Organic certification dates from the 2016 harvest. Differences in exposure, soil and altitude guide the family’s work with Sangiovese, giving the estate a close connection to the individual hillsides of this part of Chianti Classico.
