Riserva is a stunning, generous wine, with great aromas and layers of delicious flavors including succulent raspberry, Morello cherry, star anise and blood orange. While it’s already immensely enjoyable, it also has a long life ahead. (KO)

The 2021 Barbaresco Riserva Pora is a fabulous introduction to the single-vineyard wines in this range. Pliant and resonant in the glass, the 2021 impresses with its solid core of fruit and exceptional balance. A wine of depth and structure, the Pora is compelling. Wild cherry fruit, spice, new leather and blood orange fill out the layers. This is an especially fine Pora. There is so much to look forward to. (AG)

Notes

Pora brings Produttori del Barbaresco close to the Tanaro River, on a hillside whose southern and western exposures sit above the valley. The producer places the vineyard between 200 and 280 meters, with limestone and sandy veins beneath the vines. Pora has been bottled separately by Produttori since 1967. The 2021 Riserva is entirely Nebbiolo. Its vintage sheet records 28 days of skin contact, followed by 30 months in large oak casks and nine months in bottle. The Dellaferrera and Manzone families are named as the vineyard owners behind this release, giving a direct connection between the cru, its growers and the wine.
