Beautiful harmony here with a saline framing to broad but balanced ripe pear and apricot fruit. Real volume in the mouth with nice depth of fruit, finishing with a fine, mineral, spicy dance on the palate. Impressive stuff.

A classic, well-balanced example of white Crozes, with freshness, acidity and intensity of flavour. It doesn't have excess body, oak or sweetness. Everything is in its place, this is very drinkable and enjoyable. Grown on sandy soils, 6% new oak. (MW)

A round and juicy white with aromas of green pears and pastry spices. Medium-bodied with a silky texture and an attractive almond-powder note coming through.

This beautiful Marsanne comes from the wind blown sandy soils, known as loess. Some of the best sites on the hill of Hermitage have this soil, the Delhome's are quite fortunate to have this great terroir in one of their Crozes vineyards. Perfect for Marsanne, this is dried pear, almonds, a hint of Mandarin orange peel. Textured and weighty but with a pithy finish to keep the wine focused. An absolute star for a fraction of the price you would pay for an Hermitage Blanc as well!

Notes

Domaine Delhome is a fifth-generation family estate rooted in the village of Larnage, at the northern edge of Crozes-Hermitage. Long devoted to grape growing, the Delhomes sold their fruit to the Cave de Tain until 2019, when Gérald and his son Romain built their own winery and began bottling under their own name. Their 10 hectares, divided into 20 parcels between 120 and 330 meters in elevation, sit on the cooler, more boreal side of the appellation - the historic heart of Crozes-Hermitage. Their parcels range across a complex mosaic of clay-limestone, loess, kaolin-rich white clays, and stony granitic slopes, The "Loess" is from a special sandy soil that is usually found on the hill of Hermitage. This 100% Marsanne is from 50+ year old vines. Vinification is done in a mix of wood and stainless steel with malolactic partially blocked to preserve some freshness in the wine. This is classically perfumed Crozes Blanc with subtle pear and almond layers.
