Reviewed January 2025Hailing from the southern side of the valley, this has a zippy profile. White peaches, pomelo and yuzu fraternize with hazelnuts and toasted baguette. This is the only cuvée that sees 100% oak—none new. Vibrant acidity laces through the rather weighty and fruit-filled palate, delivering freshness and finale.

Purchased in must from the producer who might have picked a bit late. Mid yellow, slightly lactic but not dramatically so. A little barrel spice. Very succulent, with some sucrosity, the Vaudésir may have just lost a bit of its white bench cool demeanour. Additional ageing will help restore tension.
Notes
Bill Nanson for Burgundy Report: "500-litre barrels plus some 228s. Wide, fresh, the barrel less imposing. Super in the mouth – extra scale vs the Bougros and extra finishing intensity. The barrel quite subtle today. So long and mineral – it’s an excellent grand cru – it might even be a great one…" (01/2025)
