An intriguing savoury note to the ripe raspberry and black plum fruit aromas recalls game or roast meat – a bit 'sauvage'. The texture is very lively, with bright acidity driving the wine to a persistent, balanced finish. The 0.76-hectare parcel is near the southern edge of the climat near the border with Roncière; Grivot relates that the fruit ripens well; the grapes are destemmed and carefully fermented to prevent over-extraction. This is a marvellous rendition of Pruliers. It should open up in three to five years and will undoubtedly last thirty beyond that.(CC)

The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has a very tempting bouquet, beautifully defined and one of the purest from Grivot this vintage. There's a subtle flinty quality to the aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with a firm structure, edgy, thanks to the slightly chalky tannins. It’s a marine-influenced Nuits Saint-Georges with a lingering, quite minerally finish. Excellent.(NM)

Introducing this wine, Etienne Grivot said, "We're not in the brutality of Nuits here." You never are in the Grivot wines, but that is especially true here. This is delightfully harmonious in structure with lightly spicy tannins and seamless, lifting acidity. The aromatics are brooding and savory but in an inviting sort of way.

Ample amounts of the sauvage and newly turned earth nuances add breadth to the poached plum and black pinot fruit aromas. The rich, round, concentrated and muscular big-bodied flavors exhibit excellent powerful on the very firm, serious and superbly long finale. Impressive development potential here.*Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*

Notes

Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "A lovely red cherry-berry nose – love the clarity here. Direct, silky a little muscle too – but wiry and strong like a rock climber. A beauty and a very different character to the Roncières." (01/2024)
