Notes
Spitalerhof's Grüner Veltliner is a distinctive white wine from the Eisack Valley in South Tyrol, Italy. Cultivated at approximately 525 meters elevation using the Guyot training system, the grapes are harvested manually in late October. The wine exhibits a pale yellow hue with greenish reflections and offers a complex bouquet of herbal notes and floral undertones. On the palate, it delivers refreshing acidity, a full-bodied structure, and a lingering finish. This Grüner Veltliner pairs well with fish, white meats, and serves as an excellent aperitif. It is best enjoyed within 4 to 6 years of bottling. Grüner Veltliner, Austria's flagship grape, has a long history in Alto Adige, a region with deep cultural and historical ties to Austria. Originally grown in the Valle d'Isarco, Grüner Veltliner is now primarily found in the Alto Adige vineyards on the plateau near Bolzano. This region is known for producing wines with high acidity, often featuring subtle spice, white pepper, green pear, and a hint of citrus. Spitalerlhof has mastered the art of crafting a Grüner Veltliner that honors its cross-cultural heritage. The wine respects the characteristics of the finest Austrian grapes while showcasing an Italian flair—precise, elegant, and balanced. The winery employs sustainable practices to highlight the unique spices and minerals inherent in the variety. Spitalerlhof’s wines are refreshing yet age-worthy, offering a true taste of Alto Adige’s Austrian influence.
