2020 Siran, Margaux

The 2020 has a wonderfully appealing nose, smoky and toasty, with dark and delicately crystalline fruits hiding underneath it all. It certainly inspires confidence! The palate is fresh, coherent and convincing, with layers of deliciously dark and integrated fruits, richly polished yet savoury, alongside plenty of fresh grip and real energy. This is charming, bright and very nicely composed, all in all a quite brilliant Siran, long and infused with tannin in the finish. Tasted a few times recently, and once again this stands out as being at classified level in Margaux, in its depth, careful and confident extraction, giving plenty of dark chocolate alongside cassis, bilberry and blackberry fruit, savoury, spiced, thoroughly enjoyable.
