Reviewed April 2023This is also a ripe 2021 with its aromas of kirsch, plum liqueur and newly turned earth. Like the Marconnets, I love the gorgeous mouthfeel of the almost opulent, intense and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the balanced and impressively persistent finish. This too could use more depth but the highly attractive mouthfeel should make this appealing young while it's aging. Lovely. *Outstanding!*

UNDER THE RADAR An elegant wine with a medium garnet colour and expressive aromas of raspberry, pomegranate and lavender. The texture is silky and delicate, with ripe fruit and an almost surprising density and length. The grapes come from 40-year-old vines in a 1.27ha parcel in the middle of the slope with southeast exposure. The grapes were destemmed, fermented on native yeasts, and lightly pumped over or punched down once daily. The wine is still ageing in cask, about 30% new. (CC)

I am a huge fan of Beaune 1er cru wines for how approachable they are and how well the open knitted fruit evolve with just a couple of years. With this Brssandes, the fruit was a little more weighty and austere, darker fruit than I expected - but the fruit stuck me as soon as I put my nose in the glass. Plum and blackberry pie in the nose with a lingering rhubarb in the mouth, but with some overlays of flint smoke or fresh tar (from the oak toast I often see on Beaune reds) present in the nose as well. Great wine to buy a 6-pack and cellar for several years and a diverse dinner pairing wine to enjoy.

In contrast to he "Cent-Vignes" Beaune, the "Bressandes" is a touch more tart with red and black cherries, red cassis, earth, spice, minerals and very light bit of white pepper. It is also more floral and well, just plain pretty! Like the "Cent-Vignes" it has impeccable quality and silkiness.
Notes
Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "From above Toussaints, there’s more limestone in this plot. Deep and focused mineral aromatics with plenty of clarity of red fruit – not so wide in this case. Fine breadth of flavour – and it goes so deep – never to excess but more overt depth of fruit than most. The cool fruited floral style of the domaine in evidence here too only with a little extra depth. More stony finishing – cherry-stone in style. Another beautiful wine…" (01/2023)
