2020 Krutz Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2020 harvest was during the height of the Covid pandemic and exacerbated by two damaging wildfires - the Complex Fire in August and and the Glass Fire in September. However, the hot and dry growing season and low yields produced grapes of incredible concentration and flavor. Krutz Family Cellars, founded in 2003, has a winemaking philosophy that helped them navigate the tricky season: "Once the fruit is received, we cut no corners. Hand sorting, whole berry integrity, new Taransaud French Oak fermenters, and gravity-fed, Free Run Only Wine (no press fractions) straight to the finest French Oak barrels on the market." The full-bodied 2020 Krutz Cabernet has aromas of baking spices, licorice, cherry cola, graphite, mocha, and violets. Silky on the front attack and mid palate, but the tannic structure and power of the wine is felt on the finish. It should age beautifully.

Explosive flavors of cranberries, black currants, plum sauce, dried rosemary, lavender, cigar box, and hint of vanilla bean. Plump and silky on the palate, bright acidity, and a long savory finish. Decadent, and would be the perfect match for a steak dinner.
