Vinous
Reviewed April 2023A distinct richness and savoriness makes the 2022 Biancolella Tenuta Frassitelli impossible to ignore, wafting up with a bouquet of dried flowers, incense, gingery spice and young peach. It’s round and supple with crisp orchard fruits and wild notes of crystalized ginger, all balanced by a pretty inner sweetness. The 2022 leaves the palate reeling with tension, blending cheek-puckering lemon zest with a bump of residual acidity and a salty note that keeps the mouth watering for more. It is easy to visualize the steep mountainside vineyards that these vines grow from and the Sea directly below them. The Tenuta Frassitelli is a stimulating and thought-provoking wine. - By Eric Guido on April 2023

Here's another stellar wine from Casa d'Ambra. The Frassitelli vineyard is located on a sea bluff at a steep 600 meters above sea level. The 2022 Ischia Tenuta Frassitelli is made with the native Biancolella grape that shows a beautiful affinity with these unique Mediterranean growing conditions. This lovely, mid-weight wine offers apple, honey and sweet nectarine. There is a pretty creaminess to this wine's delicious texture. This historic wine was first produced in 1985, and 50,000 bottles are produced today. (ML)

Arguably Ischia’s finest producer, capable of mid-weighted wines that skitter across the palate with such levity that one glass can easily turn into a bottle. Raw almond, sea salt and bitter preserved lemon accents are swept broad and long by a skein of acidity doused with fennel seed and white pepper. Delicious drinking. Drink now. Ned Goodwin MW
