A world blend combining malt and grain whiskies from Ireland, Scotland, Japan, Canada, and the U.S., this is a busy, multilayered whisky. The nose has grilled orange, floral notes, fruity hard candy, rose water, fresh-baked bread, an almost yeasty note, wood spice, pastry, and firework smoke. Juicy orange flavors, with smoke, chocolate, cinnamon, peppercorn, and maltiness, then hazelnut, caramel, and ground almond to finish. (JM, Summer-2023)
Notes
The five major whiskey producing countries in the world are Scotland, Ireland, America, Canada, and Japan. Beam Suntory happens to own major distilleries in all five. They have brought together the distinct whiskies and traditions of each of these places into a unique and compelling world blend. Named "Ao" for the deep blue of the oceans that connect our terrestrial world the whisky itself offers some of the best of all these places in a complex and multifaceted dram that will feel familiar to any whisky drinker and yet completely new.
