David Schildknecht of Vinous shares: "Michaela Haas-Allram and Erich Allram have operated her family’s estate in Strass since 1992, and their son Lorenz is now also fully involved. Over three decades they have been dedicated to restoring and replanting the estate’s substantial, terraced portion of the Heiligenstein. Three years ago, the Allrams acquired a piece of the small, prestigious Renner vineyard, and the following year added three hectares of vineyards around Grosswiesendorf in the eastern Wagram that had belonged to Erich Haas’s brother. Fermentations are, in Lorenz Haas’s words, “as often as possible spontaneous,” and are divided between tanks and acacia casks. Bottling is as often as possible left until spring or summer to allow for beneficial lees contact." (06/2015)
