Dry-ish wine with lime, wet stone and white wildflower flavours. Gutsy with impressive concentration. Just a tad coarse but should mellow with age.

A medium-sweet riesling with sliced green apples, canned pears and light spices. Fresh and sweet at the end. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.

The 2021 Riesling Single Vineyard 5182 D is D for dry. But it could also be T for textured or C for concentrated or E for full of extract. It really packs a punch with its intensity and grip. It has all you would want in Riesling aromatics from citrus to florals to wet stone-licking goodness. In a cool climate, dry Riesling can be austere. I appreciate this manages to walk that tightrope while still requiring you to be an acid fiend.

"Since buying their property in 2003, husband and wife team Jason and Anna Flowerday have specialized in making aromatic whites on their organic vineyard, which was first planted in 1979. The Flowerdays now own some of the region's oldest - if not the oldest - vines in Marlborough. The whites are always pure and expressive with delightfully handled phenolics. Look out for the cuvée Toru, meaning three in M?ori. It is an unusual and characterful field blend of Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Riesling. In addition to whites, it also makes some decent Pinot Noir, and in warmer years, its Syrah - normally a star red on the North Island - shines." - Rebecca Gibb, Vinous
