Reviewed March 2023Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley skips out of the glass with notes of raspberry preserves, kirsch, and wild blueberries, plus touches of garrigue, cinnamon stick, and potpourri. The medium to full-bodied palate is bright, breezy, and refreshing, with fine-grained tannins and a floral finish. (LPB)

Lots of plums, darker fruits, chocolate, and incense notes emerge from the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley, a dense, sweetly fruited, pleasure-bent 2020 that’s already drinking nicely. It should keep for 8-10 years and should certainly put a smile on your face.

Some dried-herb character to the baked blackberries and graphite on the nose. Rich, smooth and flavorful on the palate, swathed by dark cherries, cassis and firm yet juicy and polished tannins. Drink or hold.

William Turnbull, a well known San Francisco Bay Area architect (he designed Fisher Winery, Cakebread Cellars and Newton Vineyards) founded Johnson Turnbull Vineyards in 1979. From the winery: "Turnbull Cellars was designed to be low-key and in tune with its environment, and is a classic example of a small, hands-on Napa Valley winery. William Turnbull once said, 'You want to have an image of a winery that cares about the last drop of wine in the bottle.' That tradition is carried on today."
