I feel like I shouldn't be talking about this wine because I kind of want to keep it all for myself. The Rogstad (which is usually twice this price) is a gorgeously complex pinot that is truly worth twice what you're paying for it. Like a beautiful aged Volnay, it has a panoply of spices and red fruit. The tannins have receded into the background leaving a long silky finish. Unbelievable!

Winemaker Steven Rogstad has been in the business for over 20 years and has made wines in California, New Zealand and France. He's worked with big names all over the North Coast, such as Cuvaison, Saintsbury, Rombauer, Spottswoode, and others. Rogstad has long been fascinated by Pinot Noir and this project is his opportunity to focus on this variety. Winery notes: "The fruit for this wine comes from the deep end of Anderson Valley along the Navarro river. The site is sandy loam with lots of cobblestones, producing a sinewy wine with bright red fruit. The 2015 vintage is all clone 828. 124 cases produced."
