Reviewed October 2019There is some good freshness and bright citrus within the 2018 Falanghina del Sannio Svelato. The wine has a pretty intensity and brightness, with intermingled tones of natural rubber, orchard fruit and grapefruit. A colleague of mine who tasted this wine suggested it would be the perfect pairing for spaghetti with colatura di alici, Campania's inimitable anchovy extract used to flavor local pasta dishes or poured over bread. An ample 65,000 bottles were produced. (ML)

In the 2018 Falanghina Svelato I’m finding a fresh and zesty display of salty minerals mixed with dusty florals, wild herbs, and crushed green apple with a citrus zest. On the palate, soft textures and ripe stone fruits are contrasted by brisk acids and saline-minerals, as the 2018 'Svelato' Falanghina seems to glide across the senses with balanced richness. The finish is long, tugging at the senses in a sweet and sour display of sweet citrus and green apple. (EG)
