Glen Oak 17 Year (Bruichladdich) Single Malt Scotch (750ml)

We were absolutely thrilled when we realized there was an opportunity to share 17 year old Bruichladdich with our customers for well under a hundred bucks. This whisky is extraordinarily smooth and perfectly balanced. The famous unpeated Islay is laden with rich malt and that salty zip that makes the Laddie so compelling. This small batch for Glen Oak was blended from 15 barrels, all full-term bourbon barrels, many of them first fill. There is a deep, dark, chocolately flavor that meshes seamlessly with the oak and vanilla. Upon tasting, my first question was, how is such a whisky at such a low price possible? It's not just anyone who can walk in and purchase 17 year old casks from a Blue Chip distillery. The answer lies in a long term relationship between the makers of Glen Oak and the owners of the whisky. As always, it pays to have friends in high places, especially in a whisky warehouse. When this 15 barrel bottling is gone, it's gone forever.
