Reviewed December 2017This golden dram has a distinctly savory scent: Sea breeze, seaweed and bell pepper. The palate shows fleeting tropical fruit sweetness, then a gentle waft of peat smoke, with subtle vanilla and oak notes in the drying finish. Subsequent sips layer the smoke more thickly on top of the fruit and vanilla undertone, plus a black pepper prickle on the finish. Stands up well to a lot of dilution. (KN)

A limited Ardbeg release named for the mythical shape shifting spirit of the deep and aged in virgin oak casks from the republic of Adygea, this experimental edition of Ardbeg gives a nod to the influence of the Black Sea.
