A terrific value and an amazing sleeper of the vintage is the 2014 Y3 Taureau Proprietary Red, a mélange of 45% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 10% Zinfandel. This is a steal at $20, and Napa could certainly use more wines that are creatively put together like this one. Kudos to winemaker Kirk Venge-this is a killer bargain. Ruby purple in color, with loads of black cherry and briary blackcurrant fruit, the wine is meaty and refreshing, with hints of mocha and earth. Medium to full-bodied, luscious and velvety, this is all a $20 wine should be and then some. Drink it over the next 2-3 years for its exuberance. (RP)
