2013 Nicolas Joly "Les Vieux Clos" Savennières

The vines are planted in primarily schist soils, but with a bit of quartz and just a touch of sand as well. This is quite an explosive wine. It's full of ripe crunchy apple flavors along with layer after layer of honeyed tea and roasted nuts. Consider it a definite candidate for the cellar. Alternatively, you could even open it now and just have a glass a day to see how this slow-evolver will change throughout the course of the week. I put this into the Savennières powerhouse category.
