These pre-closure Bruichladdichs are becoming rarer and rarer. Bruichladdich has never been a very available malt on the secondary market, but it's almost a null set on the high-quality sherried side. That's because the stuff that left the distillery was intended for blending and probably stored in second fill hogsheads if you're lucky. That doesn't make those whiskies bad, but it certainly makes this one a unique experience. Even the distillery itself seems to have run dry of these older stocks, so this is really some rare stuff. Of course, rarity is meaningless if it doesn't taste good and these bottles are delivering the goods and then some. Tons of salty plums and earthy roasted nuts. The palate weight and texture are exceptional with a long dense finish with that subtle oceany Laddie character that we love so much. A treat for hardcore Laddie fans and sherry cask lovers alike.

Notes

Old Sherried Laddie? Yes please! These are becoming wildly rare, even the distillery has very little if any juice left from this period. This stands tall with some of the best sherried single casks OBs and trounces other similar independents who tend to have refill hogshead and bourbon cask from this period. Of course, the price isn't low, but for what you're getting it's a wonderful buy.
