2011 Lieu Dit Santa Ynez Valley Cabernet Franc

Tyler Winery in Santa Ynez has produced a very small amount of Sauvignon Blanc under the Lieu Dit label. Fruit for this 2011 Cabernet Franc was sourced from the Star Lane and Three Creek vineyards in the Happy Canyon portion of the Santa Ynez Valley. The fruit was fermented in two different ways, some through whole-cluster and partial whole cluster fermentation and secondly, through carbonic maceration. The carbonic fermentation gives the wine its freshness while the whole cluster gives it the bright fruit and savory qualities. The wines were put into older neutral barrels after fermentation to integrate the flavors and preserve the freshness and lively fruit characteristics of this Santa Ynez red.
