Previously only available as part of Diageo’s annual Special Releases program, and now bottled at the classic Talisker strength of 45.8%, instead of cask strength. Initially salty, then sweet and spicy on the nose, with summer berries, heather honey, and an earthy note, plus subtle peat. Spicy and drying on the slightly waxy palate, with licorice, aniseed, and prominent peat embers. The finish is medium in length, peppery, and relatively tannic. (Vol. 21, #3)

Talisker continues to be one of the unsung gems of the Diageo portfolio. Roundly considered to be one of the finest malt Distillers by connoisseurs and the Scotch elite alike, it remains a sleeper hit among casual as well consumers. The distillery's production goes almost entirely toward the blends, so it's very rare for casks to make it up over the 20 year mark. Even at $500 a bottle this stuff is an incredible value and easily bests IB and OB bottlings from other distilleries at many multiples of this price. An exceptional whisky reserved for the true lovers of this wild, old school western Highland style.
