2007 Evesham Wood "Cuvee J" Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir

A mildly more complex nose is similar to that of the Illahe but with the addition of subtle spice notes that seamlessly dissolve into beguilingly delicious, pure and lilting medium-bodied flavors that dance across the palate and culminate in a detailed, taut and harmonious finish. This is not a big wine, indeed by the standards of most US pinot this will strike some as downright light. But the flavor authority here is remarkable and it's delivered in much the same way that a classic Volnay can deliver even more focus, depth and impact when compared with much bigger burgs from say Pommard to Aloxe. I suspect that this will one day surpass the Illahe but for the moment it's a qualitative tie. Note that fans of power pinot will be better served to look elsewhere but those who prize elegance, finesse and delicacy should be nothing short of wowed.
