Slightly richer than the Charleston Sercial, the Boston Bual boasts knockout aromas of toasted nut oil, orange peel and hints of dark honey or maple syrup. Despite the extra weight and sweetness, it's not cloying at all the finish is mouthwatering and long. *Editors' Choice* (JC)

Nutty aromas and flavors are filled with buttery notes in this plush and sweet style. Dried apricot and mango details add to the richness. Finishes with seductive smoke, dried beef and cocoa powder components. (KM)

The Boston Bual bottling from the Rare Wine Company is really a very pretty wine that offers up excellent value, as it wafts from the glass in a blend or orange zest, coffee, a lovely touch of toasted nuts and a gentle topnote of caramel. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and only moderately sweet, with a lovely core, bright, tangy acids and very fine length and grip that closes with a fine note of spiciness. This has about 3% residual sugar, and with its lively acidity, the wine comes off as more off-dry than sweet in style. A fine bottle. 92+

The NV Boston Bual Special Reserve Madeira is redolent of black cherry, cloves, coffee and dark chocolate. Medium in body yet quite dark, this super-classic Bual is packed with character but also remains quite accessible, in terms of both structure and price. (AG)

These are the most affordable, representative examples of classic Madeira available. A collaboration between the importer and Barbeito's Ricardo Diogo Vasconcelos Freitas, the idea behind these bottlings is to capture some of the magic of vintage Madeira: the beautiful aromas, intensity of flavor and, most importantly, the acidity. Given the fact that 1.5-3 ounces is a sufficient pour and that once opened, these simply will not go bad, these are also among the best deals we have in the store for those looking for a truly unique addition to the cellar (as well as to their drinking rotation)!
