Viñedos de los Vientos "Alcyone" Tannat Uruguay (500ml)

This is a truly unique dessert wine, produced from late harvest Tannat grapes (yes, the same tannat which is famously high in resveratrol) grown in Uruguay. Along with a light addition of neutral grape spirit to fortify the wine (as they do in Port and elsewhere) a secret proprietary blend of herbs is also added to the fermenting wine, a technique which Pablo Fallibrini says he learned from his Italian relatives. The result is an intense, rich, heady wine tasting of sweet prunes, dried figs and chocolate. Definitely worth a try!
