I just tasted this wine today (5 January) with Keith Wollenberg, and it has become one of my favorite white Burgundies in the store. This wine has it all! It starts out full and rich with yellow apple and pear fruit, plus a nice dose of oak that is very balanced and subtle in the mid-palate. Excellent acidity on the finish and a wonderfully textured character throughout. A knockout for the money! Way to go, Keith!
Notes
This village St. Aubin is made in exactly the same method as his Meursault, Chassagne or Premier cru St. Aubins. It has a lovely texture, both rich and charming on the palate. There are interesting pear and apple notes, accompanied by a hint of oak from the barrel fermentation and aging on the lees. This is charming wine and a terrific value!
