90 Points John Gilman: "The nois is quite lovely, as it offers up scents of red cherries, a touch of eucalyptus, Rutherford Dust, some oriental spice tones and a very discreet touch of cedary wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied adn nicely complex, with good mid-palate depth, ripe tannins and fine length and grip on the finish..." ("Celebrating Fifty Years of Napa Valley Excellence"; The View from the Cellar: Heitz Wine Cellars, 6/2011. pg 18) Heitz Cellar is one of California's most legendary wineries, and it's easy to see why when you open a bottle of their 2005 Napa Valley Cab. This wine harnasses the wonderful 2005 vintage, showcasing this long growing season with dense dark cherry and currant fruit and a core of bright acidity. Vanilla and spice notes frame the wine, with well-integrated, fine-grained tannins to knit it all together. Drinking well already, and sure to offer pleasure for many, many years to come.
