Falanghina is the great workhorse of Campania, and in the hands of Ischia’s most historic house it is a workhorse with manners. Casa d’Ambra picks it in small crates in the second ten days of October, presses gently, ferments cool and gives it a short rest in steel, nothing more. In the glass, it pours a pale straw with green glints. The nose is intense and floral: hawthorn and linden blossom, white peach, a squeeze of citrus. On the palate, it is dry and poised between softness and freshness, light on its feet at 12%, closing on a clean, saline, mineral note. At $13.99 this is the fritto misto wine, the clams wine, the Tuesday wine. Buy it by the case for the next year of weeknights.

Notes

From one of Ischia’s most historic producers, the 2025 Casa d’Ambra Falanghina is a vibrant and wonderfully fresh expression of this classic Campanian grape. Sourced from mainland vineyards, this wine is bright and aromatic, with notes of crisp green apple, lemon zest, and white peach, accented by a hint of white flowers and wet stone. On the palate, it’s light-bodied and zesty, with a lively, mouthwatering acidity that frames the clean, juicy fruit flavors. The finish is clean and refreshing with a touch of saline minerality, making this an incredibly versatile and food-friendly white, perfect for seafood or as a classic aperitivo.
