James Suckling
Reviewed June 2024Very snappy and crisp on first sip, this gains depth and complexity in toasted almonds and butter as it opens. Alive with crisp apples, lemon zest and a mineral tang that gives a very lively texture and great balance. Medium-bodied. Blended from 60 sites in the region, it was partially barrel fermented. Drink or hold.

The nose is wonderfully floral, bursting with honeysuckle and jasmine, gently framed by salty white peach aromas. It's instantly inviting and draws you in. On the palate, the wine offers a beautiful balance of texture and crisp acidity, unfolding layers of white tea and wet river rock. Delicate and perfectly balanced, it finishes long and smooth, becoming even more captivating with time in the glass. A joy to sip now. (ACC)

A trace of post-bottling reduction masks the nuances of the fruit at present. Otherwise, there is excellent freshness and vibrancy to the nicely detailed middleweight flavors that terminate in a clean, dry and refreshing finale. This pretty effort could use better depth or a year or three of keeping should be helpful.*Burghound Outstanding Top Value!*

In bottle though there will be a second bottling shortly. Pale lemon colour. Not much nose at first. Then a little apple fruit with a light citrus rinse. 10% tank, the rest in wood. Quite full bodied, with a richness to the white fruit helped along by a touch of new wood, 12% in the blend. Drink from 2024-2027.
