A full-bodied red with aromas of black cherry, blueberry, chocolate orange and hazelnut. Velvety, finely-integrated tannins support a deep core of spiced dark fruit. Wonderfully concentrated and flavorful, yet balanced and fresh. Drink or hold.

The spicy 2017 Gran Enemigo Agrelo Single Vineyard has notes of cloves and sweet spices (recurrent notes through the vintages in this wine), which, coupled with the fact that this is Cabernet Franc (with 15% Malbec), gives a different profile. In 2017 they only watered this vineyard three times despite the fact that the year was very dry; because the soil retains a lot of water with its high content in clay and the soil is always cooler than the air, it's like a buffer for the high temperatures. So, the place behaves quite well in warm and dry years, and it shows. It's medium to full-bodied with round tannins and a mellow texture. It's tasty and finishes dry and long. Impressive for the vintage. 6,000 bottles were filled in July 2018. (LG)

A definitely particular aroma that smells of sweet spices, cloves, and cinnamon. It's 80% cabernet franc and the rest is malbec, all from 30-year-old vineyards in Agrelo. Aged in foudres for 15 months, it has the qualities of the reds of the part of Luján de Cuyo, with its sweet fruits and the pleasing texture of sun-ripened tannins. And the finish that comes back again with those sweet spices, with that note of cloves that lends it personality.

Cabernet Franc-based with 15% Malbec, the Agrelo Gran Emigo was picked in five different stages to maximise balance and complexity. The soils here are clay-based, and there’s a textural quality to the wine too, even at its comparatively low alcohol level. Subtle, leafy and lightly oaked, with plum and black cherry fruit and good length. 2022-29
