Reviewed November 2022Ripe cherries, lavender, ground pepper, and some assorted Provençal and floral notes define the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape, a pure, medium to full-bodied, seamless, incredibly elegant 2020 that's already hard to resist. It's just about overflowing with character, and I'd be thrilled to have bottles in the cellar. Based on 65% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, and 10% Syrah that was destemmed and brought up in a mix of concrete and tronconique tanks, it will keep for two decades.

A bold and ripe Chateauneuf, but thanks to the fine tannins and the bright acidity this has a very lively personality. Impressive depth at the long, elegantly dry finish with stacks of wild herb and stony character. A cuvee of 65% grenache, 25% mourvedre and 10% syrah. Excellent aging potential. (SP)

Cote de l'Ange has always been one of my favorite under the radar producers. The wines have always delivered classic Chateauneuf character and have been reasonably priced along the way. That said, we have a throw back price on the 2020 which is downright excellent. Hearkening back to the days of dark berry fruit, spiced meats and savory herbs, this is fresh and lively, not over extracted and lands at under $30! That's right, $30!! It's rare that we have such a noteworthy and known producer at a price like this. Take advantage now, we only secured a handful of cases.
