Reviewed March 2023 A very fresh dry white with yellow apple, lemon, fresh garden herb and snowpea aromas. Crisp and structured with a nice interplay of lively acidity and creaminess. Long, delicately spicy and herbal finish that’s very clean. A cuvee of 32% gewurztraminer, 25% pinot gris, 15% riesling, 15% pinot blanc, 10% sylvaner and 3% muscat. Drink or hold.

Gentil has been Hugel's calling card for dry Alsace white for years - always with a residual sugar level of around 3.5 to 4.5 g/L. The 2021 Gentil Hugel is fragrant with tender white blossom and honeysuckle. The palate is fruity, light, aromatic and has a lovely concentration that belies the price. Very easy to like and an ideal and very versatile wine with a tremendous global following - and of substantial commercial importance to Hugel. Always reliable. (Dry) (AK)
