Less thought about clones and more about sites, the nooks and crannies of Sonoma Coast and long relationships. Lots of Sebastopol, Freestone and Fort Ross areas. Wind tightens the skins in the Pinot Noir; there's a Sonoma aroma to the wine, herbs and umami elements with crunchy red fruit aromas and a squeeze of blood orange with mint. The palate is lively and delicious with candied raspberry, tomato leaf flavours and wintergreen. (CP)

Ripe ruby/red in color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is ripe and spicy, with aromas of cherries, cinnamon, beet root, and incense. Medium-bodied, it has a weightless feel, a chalky, fine-grained texture, and a spicy finish with notes of gravelly earth. It floats away on the palate and will have a wide drinking window over the next 7-8 years. (AF)

A fresh yet structured pinot with dried strawberry, orange peel and light caramel with dried stems. Medium body, flavorful, firm and bright at the end. Savory.

Aromas of sweet berries, cherry liqueur and cola dominate the nose of this Pinot, while the palate is loaded with cedar cigar box, coffee and maraschino cherry. The combination of freshness and grip feels very alluring, but it might need a few years to round into form.

Notes

In 1989 Walt and Joan Flowers, with great expertise in agriculture and nurseries, turned their attention and passion to the beautiful Sonoma Coast and its perfect position for growing both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their success in this venture is quite well known in the wine collector world now, and they produce some of the most striking Sonoma wines around. They produce both Estate wines from their Camp Meeting Ridge and Sea View Ridge vineyards, and wines from vineyards they carefully oversee and control in Sonoma. Their wines always show the beautiful side of their Sonoma origins and are wonderful examples of why vineyards along the high coastal ridges are special. Cool coastal fog and warm summer temperatures combine for a perfect climate for ripening both varietals to perfection.
