Reviewed October 2023Density and concentration on the palate is supported by very precise acidity. You can feel the reductive style of winemaking here, but it is in balance and promises a bright future. Long and pure in flavour. A very exciting Chablis.(AH)

James Suckling
An aromatic Chablis with aromas of grapefruit, pineapple and lemons. Hint of sage. Medium-bodied, ripe yet fresh and saline, with a creamy and tasty finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink now.

A mid lemon and lime colour. The nose has slightly broader fruit than the straight Chablis. There is very good tension, a slight sherbetty lift, while the taste of oyster shells returns in force before a clean long finish. Drink from 2025-2028.

The 2022 Chablis Sainte Claire, which comes from organically grown fruit within several large parcels, is one of the hidden gems from Brocard. The enticing nose offers Mirabelle, wet stone and nuanced patisserie scents, with just a hint of white asparagus in the background. The palate is well-balanced, with a crisp bead of acidity and commendable depth. This is a strong follow-up to the impressive 2021; who knows, it may surpass it. (NM)

Brocard's notes: "This vintage expresses the singularity of our wines through its strength, precision, and freshness." A Chablis institution since the 1970s, Brocard's Sainte Claire has bright tangy citrus (orange, lemon-lime), brine, with a firm backbone of limestone minerality coursing through it. Popping acidity with floral notes and wet stone. A precise, lean, and refreshing Chardonnay with focus and balance.
