The polish and roundness in texture is impressive in this young barrel sample, and then there are plenty of red currants, together with tile, fresh herbs and spices. Fine, chewy tannins and a long finish. This can age really well, but will give pleasure after bottling.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon John C. Sullenger comes from a site in Oakville and is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon brought up in 55% new French oak. This deep purple-hued effort offers a textbook Oakville perfume of ripe black fruits, iron, smoked tobacco, and graphite. This carries to a powerful, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with a broad, expansive mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a gorgeous finish. It's an impressive effort, if not the finest vintage of this cuvee I've tasted. Enjoy bottles over the coming 15 years.
