Reviewed January 2023
Tasted at the beginning of 2023, a reductive quality was still obscuring bright, penetrating green apple and kiwi flavours with a smoky, earthen veil. It's a gorgeously sleek, richly textured wine with a pulsating core of acidity and salty mineral intensity. (ALI)

Lovely texture and density, showing dried apple, fresh ginger and pastry dough. Layered, with phenolic tension.

The 2021 Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills has alluring aromas of white peach, freshly baked bread, panna cotta and matchstick with savory undertones. The medium-bodied palate has dynamic flavors that range from ripe fruit to matchstick and saline. It has a focused spine of acidity, a pleasing touch of textural grip and a very long, layered finish. It's complex yet delicious straight from the bottle. (EB)

Complex and seamless, there's plenty to admire in this white wine. Shows spiced, poached pear, dried apple, grilled lemon and fresh tangerine flavors that are juicy and generous, with details of sage, white pepper and toasted sesame seed on the finish. (MW)

A fantastic example of how cool-climate California Chardonnay can compete with top-notch white Burgundy. If anyone still harbors the out dated notion that California Chardonnay is defined by big, rich, oaky-buttery wines, this should put the final nail in the coffin once and for all. Few producers have been more prominent in the "in pursuit of balance" and "new California" wine movements than Somm turned winemaker Raj Parr and his business partner Sashi Moorman. This exquisite Sta. Rita Hills bottling exemplifies their endeavor to produce, bright, racy, focused, mineral driven wines with vibrant flavors and a real sense of place. Coming mostly from their own Domaine de la Cote estate vineyards in the coldest and windiest part of the western Sta. Rita Hills, this wine is racy and energized showing struck flint, subtle matchstick, preserved lemon, bakers yeast, raw hazel nut, river stone, chalk. Incredible tension and drive on the palate with a finish that goes on and on for minutes. Give the wine plenty of time in the glass or even decant it to get the full array of flavors. A spectacular example of modern California Chardonnay that over-delivers in everyway possible especially at our razor sharp, Insider's Advantage pricing! I believe this wine will also drink very well for at least 10 years...perhaps longer. Incredible.

On the nose ripe yellow orchards, bruised apricot, ginger tea, smoke, flint, and quality matcha. Lively acidity on the palate, with refreshing flavors of quince, lemon juice, and a long juicy finish. Majority of the grapes are sourced from the famous Domaine de la Côte, fermented in separate barrels, each developing their own distinct characteristics, then blended by the team (Raj, Sashi, DJ) to create a unique, yet authentic expression of Sta. Rita Hills. Sandhi has been consistently producing quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and their wines are only getting better.
