Dailuaine is a robust and characterful malt. At just 9 years old, this 200ml bottling from Old Malt Cask's Advance Sample line is mighty expressive. Very long fermentations and an attenuated copper contact result in a beefy spirit that provides much of the stuffing in Diageo's famous blends. It's so important, that Diageo rarely releases Dailuaine as a single malt. Fortunatley for us, it's a relatively easy dram to get on the independent bottling market as many distilleries and bottlers will trade their own stocks to get a hold of Dailuaine. As such, we can be picky about the casks we pick up. Here we have a beautiful Bourbon Barrel aged expression that has gorgeous malt up front on the nose and tons of weight and texture on the palate. A faint earthiness is found in all that power that seems a bit like peat but with no smoke to be found. Bottled at 50% ABV without color or chill filtration.
