Saint Benevolence rums are the brianchild of Calvin and Chase Babcock, a father and son team with a charitable mission in Haiti going back through 40 years of service. Calvin began working with Habitat for Humanity in Haiti in 1979 as part of a construction team. In 2002 Calvin founds Living Hope Haiti along with Saint Michel native, Reverend Gueillant Dorcinvil to provide life saving medical care and education in Haiti. In 2017, Calvin and his son Chase launch the St. Benevolence brand to merge their love of rum with their charitable efforts. The sale of every bottle of Saint Benevolence direclty funds Living Hope Haiti along with non-profits Innovating Health International and Ti Kay, both involved in providing health care and education to help transform these communities from within. The Clarin is made in the tradition of Saint Michel at the Dorcinvil distillery - with majority fresh sugar cane juice and just a tiny amount of sugar cane syrup, fermented and distilled separately in single runs through a hand made copper pot still fired by cane bagasse. Ferments are done with wild yeast and last 5-7 days. After distillation the clairin is blended in small batches and bottled at 100 proof. Made from cane clones Cristalline, Madame Meuze, Farine France, and 24/14 grown in alluvial soils at 420m above sea level. Green banana, wasabi, with earthy notes of smoke and wet gravel on the nose. A rich texture on the palate with toasted white peppercorn, clove and green olive mignonett
