Reviewed January 2021A discreet application of wood frames notes of ripe plum, black cherry and pungent earth. The supple yet reasonably precise middle weight flavors possess a dusty texture that also characterizes the relatively linear and once again, youthfully austere finish. This should be reasonably accessible after only a few years of cellaring.

The village of Fixin is just south-east of Marsannay where Domaine Bart is based, and offers wines with more acidity and freshness. This 2019 has the black cherry Pinot Noir fruit that we all love in the Bart wines, but with more clean minerality and lift. The finish is long, and detailed, and comes with that crunch that I love with my Sunday roast chicken.
Notes
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "No whole bunches and just 15% new wood for the Fixin. It is slightly deeper in colour than most of the Marsannay wines, the nose is a little bit hidden. Dense foursquare dark fruit with redder touches, firm but not rude tannins, some length."
