The 2017 Carbonnieux Blanc has a very harmonious bouquet with scents of lime, white flowers, melon and grapefruit that gradually unfold with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a little more weight and persistence than the Deuxième Vin, though truth is that there is not an enormous qualitative difference between the two. But here I appreciate the salinity on the finish and I suspect it will age with style. (NM)

60% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Semillon. This particular vintage has a higher level of bright tones upfront. Semillon really shines through and adds more this time around with its classic green pear, granny smith apple, kaffir lime and honey notes but then there is a subtle guava, passion fruit on the back end. Acidity is a bit less flashy in this vintage and the mouthfeel is a bit more broad and more exotic. These expressions emerge slowly which makes the want to spend more time with the wine enjoying and capturing all those flavors.
