2017 Domaine Jean et Gilles Lafouge Auxey Duresses Blanc "Les Boutonniers"

I discovered on this trip that the vineyard of les Boutonniers is very good for pinot noir as well, as this is the climat from which the Coche family produces their Auxey rouge bottling. The 2017 Boutonniers blanc from Gilles Lafouge is simply excellent, delivering a refined aromatic constellation of apple, pear, a touch of fresh almond, orange zest, plenty of chalky minerality and a topnote of spring flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and crisp, with a lovely core, impressive cut and grip and a long, focused and zesty finish of fine complexity. This is classy and will be an absolute steal at its price.
