K&L Notes

Composed of the same grapes in the same percentages as the Crianza, the Reserva is a barrel selection of wines that Angel Escudero feels can undergo longer aging in barrel and then in bottle. Aged a total of 27 months in barrels, then into concrete for more than a year, the Reserva also sees bottle aging until Angel deems it ready for release. This wine ramps up the intensity of the Crianza, with more pungent fruit as well as a real spicy and wild quality. As with many of the best Riojas, this wine is quite delicious right now if you want to drink some bottles while you wait for other bottles in your cellar to mature.

I love how good this wine is. It kind of makes me feel a little old, I remember when there were a ton of wines like this. This over performs in the biggest way, I hate to describe this wine this way but it is how I feel about it, it is stupid how good this wine is, and how affordable it is. This wine has everything that I want from a Rioja, and wine in general. It has lots of complexity, a mix of dark fruits and bright berries. It has lots of spice, hints of leather, earth and an almost iron like minerality to it. It is persistent, the flavors go and go. It has plenty of structure, it does not intrude but it more than subtly drives the wine. This is a wine that you can share with anyone for any occasion, or with no one at all (the wine is awesome the next day!)

The wines of Lesmos are a staple here at K&L for many reasons. They are customer favorites because they always over-deliver in the price and enjoyment categories by offering stunning value and ageability as well as sheer drinking pleasure. This is traditional Rioja and a style of wine that really is unique to Spain in these modern times. The blend is 85% Tempranillo and 15% Mazuelo, aged fourteen months in barrel and then rested in concrete vats before bottling, followed by further ageing in bottle until deemed ready for release. The vineyards are also farmed organically. Try a bottle and see what makes this a K&L best-seller.

A pleasant surprise in a bottle! This is a delicious Rioja that delivers and pleases in its modestly unassuming way. A definite value for those looking for a wine structured with crushed red fruit, bold tannins finishing with a silky mouthfeel. This is wine that can go with an extravagant dinner or weeknight skillet dinner.

This is an incredible Rioja. Dark Blue fruit somehow topped with bright red that fades in and out through a cover of classic oak and spicy notes. A steal at this price, this bottle can hold it's own against any Reserva out there. This is a phenomenal option for nice steak dinners, or roasted vegetables.
