Wine Advocate

Reviewed August 2018
The 2012 Premier Cru Extra Brut is sourced in Bouzy and Écueil and was picked between September 20th and October 3rd. The wine blends 55% Pinot Noir with 45% Chardonnay and was fermented 60% in Burgundian pièces. The straw-yellow colored wine offers a clear, precise and refreshing citrus aroma with mineral notes and good intensity. Full-bodied and charmingly round on the palate, this is an intense, lush and fruity vintage with a refreshing mineral finish. Disgorged in March 2017 with a dosage of four grams per liter. (SR) 90+

Notes

This Champagne, from the great 2012 vintage, is composed of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay from the Grand Cru of Bouzy and the Premier Cru of Ecueil. It is 60% vinified in oak and dosed at just 4g/l. This is vinous, golden nectar, that thanks to the low dosage, still finishes dry. This has the wonderful hazelnut and nougat character of top class Meursault, and I can't wait to have it with lobster! - Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer
