This has petite bubbles that lightly flutter on the tongue. The nose is of fresh baked baguettes and orchard fruits. The lees on this is upfront and lengthily pleasant. This is quite an enjoyable Champagne for a very attractive price.

Quite a classic blancs de noirs, but fresh in fruit (which is the style that I like) and this one has the clear if subtle notes of berry, with some leesy toast I hole on the finish.

The second offering that we have from Derot Delugny is a 100% Pinot Meunier bottling that is a bit different from other all PM champagnes that we offer. Different in that it is more muted and subtle and that is a good thing! On the nose, white currants, maple and some caramel. The palate is quite different, with nice acidity, dried fruits (golden raisins) and yellow apples. Surprisingly, fresh and almost floral, with generous creamy notes. Should be super versatile with anything from starters to main courses.

Notes

This 100% Meunier from Croutes-sur-Marne is done in the fresh, clean style of Blanc de Noirs. It is an ideal aperitif! The warm bread and tarte-tatin aromas and flavors give this some power for people who like a toastier style, but without going over the edge into heaviness. Again, the bead and texture are spot on, I expect partially due to the cold, dead consistent temperature in their hillside cave. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)
