Capurro Estate Grown Single Vintage Quebranta Premium Pisco (750ml)

SKU #1220056

Capurro is a 100-year-old, family-owned company with roots in San Mateo, California. The family operates a Peruvian food and import business on B Street downtown, and they self-distribute their own pisco. It's literally a mom-and-pop operation. This new line of Capurro piscos are all from the 2012 vintage in Peru and have been rested in stainless steel tanks for over three years. There are three single-varietal expressions (Moscatel, Torontel, and Quebranta) and one acholado, which means a blend of different grapes. They are made entirely from estate-grown fruit, with no additives and no filtration. All of them are outstanding and worth your time. The Quebranta begins with a lovely note of exotic fruit and more of what almost tastes like candied tamarind, before settling down into a clean and vibrant finish. It's incredible just on its own as an eau-de-vie, but also mixes into cocktails like a dream.

Capurro is known for their single vintage, single variety Piscos and their extreme commitment to quality. While the minimum resting period for Peruvian Pisco is 3 months, Capurro rests theirs until they feel it has achieved its maximum expressive potential - in this case 39 long months! The Quebranta is a Pisco varietal that has parentage in the California Mission Grape. The aromatics are more savory than fruity. They have an earthy, almost dusty tone to them. The flair really comes in the weight and texture of the Quebranta. It's heavier than the other varieties and emulsifies the best for egg based cocktails. If you're making tons of Pisco Sours this will make your life a little easier. The added weight of the Pisco also lets you cut back the sugar in the cocktail just a little.

Taste the terroir of Peru with this single varietal Quebranta, one of the strongest yet non-aromatic of the 8 designated varietals that can be used to make pisco. What quebranta lacks in aroma more than makes up for with rich, texture and complex flavors of sweet fried plantains, almonds and pepper. The full body of this spirit makes it a great emulsifier and perfect for making Pisco Sours, or it would work just fine alone as a soothing, slow tropical sipper.
